The Whippet Club of BC is based in British Columbia, Canada, and was formed to promote the whippet breed. The Whippet Club of BC sponsors CKC lure coursing for all sighthounds, an annual CKC Whippet Specialty Show, NOTRA oval racing for all sighthounds, and CKC agility trials. |

Upcoming Racing Practice Dates The Whippet Club of BC has no planned practices due to lack of facilities. WHIPPETS ONLY may attend the BC Whippet Racing Club practices in Richmond. For info on scheduled practices go to the BC Whippet Racing Club web page (see the 'LINKS' section below. Field location is at the end of Rice Mill Road (off #5 Road south) in Richmond. For info re. practices, call Kathy (604)451-9654 or Bill (604) 876-9868. Practices may be cancelled due to rain. Lure-coursing certification runs may be arranged by request. |

HOW TO FIND A WHIPPET IN BC The whippet is not a tremendously popular breed (thank goodness!) and prospective whippet owners may have to spend some time searching for the dog or puppy they want. If you are looking for a whippet, we recommend you check out the dog shows in your area and watch the whippets being judged. After the classes, approach the handlers of the dogs you like. Most whippet people are happy to take the time to educate prospective owners about their breed and point them in the direction of available whippets. If you are interested in racing, come on out to a race meet (check the NOTRA link below for scheduled meets) and watch the races and talk to the handlers. Two Whippet Club of BC members have also agreed to provide information on puppies and adult dogs which they know to be available, and to provide general advice on whippet care and whippet activities.
